Held in Birmingham, the National Planning Conference 2023 was hosted by Planning Portal and RTPI, and was a huge success; full of expert presentations, panel discussions, and both relaxed and formal networking opportunities.
The agenda for the event detailed hot topics in today's planning world, including sustainability and biodiversity, technology, youth engagement, politics, supporting vulnerable and diverse communities, and of course not forgetting our popular Chief Planners' panel.

The National Planning Conference 2023 was, without a doubt the most important event of the year for UK planners. Bringing together expert thinkers, academics, and professionals from across the built environment sector, the conference was a unique hub for networking and idea sharing, and building on the most essential dialogues taking place in our industries today.

When we talk about planning we forget that the systems in the UK are very different, so being at the National Planning Conference and meeting planners from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland is such a great opportunity

On day two, all five of the UK and Ireland’s Chief Planners took to the stage, in an open panel discussion about planning reform and comparing the systems in place across the nations. It was a full house and an eagerly anticipated part of the agenda.
